Let's just take a minute to appreciate how beautiful the cover is? Mesmerizing! Isn't it? Love Among the Bougainvillea by Samyuktha Nair is a beautiful love story of an 22-year-old Assamese girl, Punam and Deep. Punam who spent her entire life in the bustling city of Delhi, is horrified to be exiled to her hometown of Guwahati to look after her aged grandparents when the Covid-19 pandemic strikes. Right from her first encounter with Deep in Guwahati, there's something about him that fascinates Punam. They bond over games of carrom and daily dinners with Aata and Aaita, enjoying the memories the old couple share. Punam soon begins to realise that maybe, being isolated in a corner of Guwahati isn't all that bad. Author's narration and her grasp over her writing skills, ensures the emotions twang right in the heart. She gives an amazing sketch of a family, a region and the COVID-19 era. The characters are wonderfully described by the author. The portrayal of every character is so lively and vivid, that even after the book is finished those characters will stay in your mind. The narration of the story is crisp engaging which keeps the reader hooked throughout. The twists and turns are very well plotted and executed. It's a short read 68 pages that one can easily finish in one or two sittings. It's a cute and captivating love story!
